I call it dkhometree because I’m D.K. (Dennis Koenig) and this is my home tree on the web, from which you can browse the rest of my webwoods.  It’s a personal blog with no mission; just a place to share some things with friends, wanna-be friends, and curious followers.

I use social media primarily as blog post aggregators; i.e., to announce posts made in my blogs.  This lets you follow all my blogs (current and future ones) in your choice of the Big Three social media sites.  You can also follow each blog by email or RSS.

Mark_Twain_webHeaven is by favor; if it were by merit your dog would go in and you would stay out. Of all the creatures ever made he (man) is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one…that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to the other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creature that cannot.  Mark Twain

copyright-2017I’m no more misanthropic than Mark Twain.  Despite his opinion of humanity, Twain was genial and sociable, like me, but more.  I am nicer to be with when I am alone.

  1. So do we call you Dennis over here and James over there?!!!!

Below the ‘like’ button is a prompt to a post ‘Your Brain on Nature…” heading there now… (I have a book ‘This is your Brain on Music.’) I suspect I’ll absorb the nature-one much easier!

    • Huh? I’m just Dennis Koenig on both sites. Never been a James anywhere! Got a link to where you see something about James connected with either The Balsamean or dkhometree?

I do use two WordPress ID’s. TheBalsamean and dkhometree. But usually I keep their postings & comments confined to their respective blogs. Making an exception in this comment.

You probably recall that The Balsamean in 2012 and 2013 had a lot more posts not specifically about Balsamea. In 2014 I created dkhometree for that, to keep The Balsamean about Balsamea. That’s how dkhomtree got started.

      • But my social media sites are all under my real name, Dennis Koenig (not that The Balsamean isn’t real!!! It may be my “better self.”) There aren’t separate social media sites for Balsamea. Posts from both blogs go to all 3 Dennis Koenig social media sites (Fb, G+, Twit). See the links in the home page sidebar here.

        • You interrupted painting to look at a post from ME???? And comment on it??? Yipes! Have you gone off yer rocker? Don’t answer that! PAINT! And send me a picture of it some day.

          • Ha! It’s a tromp l’oeil pretent mosaic tile painted on a concrete floor… Every so often I have to stand up, walk around, let the paint dry, coax the squeaky joints to work, then resume when there’s no risk of sprawling across still-drying wet paint.

I thought it might be noon, and it was way past one when I stopped, had lunch with neighbors, walked around this petite village, made reservations for a friends friends who arrive on Thursday…

Emerging from a painting trance is much like waking up from a deep sleep… it takes a while to reconcile the zen state with the normal one..

Thanks, and I’ll be showing the floor in a post hopefully in the next week.

            • I get that trance wandering in the woods or working on my trails, feeding a campfire and such; sometimes in writing too, now and then in sex (did I say that in public? LOL.).

I bet your project benefits as much from the breaks as from the entrancements (new word). Freshen the head and heart with what inspires you in the first place, or something like that.

I can already imaginefeel (another new word) a bit of the fascination gripping everyone who sees that floor in the flesh.
